Mr. Tumangan is a Senior Associate whose practice focuses on corporate,
civil and criminal litigation, international commercial arbitration,
investment disputes, environmental law and safety-related concerns of
infrastructure projects, all areas of law concerning employment
standards and labor relations, and corporate and business transactions
matters.
He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1999.
Practice
Mr. Tumangan handles diverse litigation cases before numerous trial
courts across the country. He has also briefed and argued appeals
before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
Mr. Tumangan likewise handles administrative cases before several
administrative and quasi-judicial bodies in the Philippines.
Mr. Tumangan has acted as counsel for major foreign and local clients
of the firm in international and domestic arbitration cases, mediation,
negotiations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution covering
complex commercial disputes. He has practiced and is familiar with the
arbitration and mediation rules of the International Chamber of
Commerce (ICC), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law
(UNCITRAL), American Arbitration Association (AAA), International
Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and the
Construction Industry Arbitration Commission of the Philippines (CIAC).
In addition, Mr. Tumangan represents major companies in a broad range
of environmental and safety-related issues including problems and
concerns arising under all major environmental laws and related rules
and regulations.
Moreover, Mr. Tumangan
assists the clients of the firm in handling its employee relations and
ensuring that the minimum labor standards under Philippine law are
observed.
Mr. Tumangan furthermore is deeply
involved in advising the firm’s clients on matters involving
corporate and business transactions.
Education
Mr. Tumangan received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in
Business Management degree from De La Salle University in 1993. He
received his Bachelor of Laws degree from San Beda College of Law in
1998. In 2005, Mr. Tumangan received his Master of Laws degree (LL.M.)
in International Legal Studies - with Distinction from Georgetown
