Ricardo J. Romulo is a senior partner born in the Philippines on January 8, 1933. He holds a B.S., cum laude, degree from Georgetown University and a Doctor of Laws (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School and was admitted to the Bar in 1960. He is the son of the late General Carlos P. Romulo, former Philippine Foreign Minister and President of the Fourth General Assembly of the United Nations.

Mr. Romulo specializes in commercial and corporate transactions. Aside from his law practice, Mr. Romulo is active in business serving as Chairman of the Board of BASF Philippines, Inc., Cebu Pacific Airlines, Digital Telecommunications Philippines, Inc., InterPhil Laboratories, Inc. and Sime Darby Pilipinas, Inc. He is Vice-Chairman and director of Planters Development Bank. He is a director of several companies such as Pfizer, Inc., IBM Philippines, Inc., Honda Philippines, Inc, Maersk-Filipinas, Inc., Sanofi Philippines, Inc. and Pilipinas Makro, Inc.

He serves as trustee of the Pension Funds of IBM Philippines, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Export Corporation (Philippine Branch). He is a member of the Financial Board of the Archdiocese of Manila.
His civic activities include being the Chairman of the Makati Business Club, Member, National Council of National Movement for Free Elections, Member of Bishop-Businessmens' Conference, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, St. Scholastica's College, Trustee of Carlos P. Romulo Foundation for Peace and Development, and Chairman of the Foundation for the Enhancement of Legal Education, Inc.

Mr. Romulo has been the Chairman of the Makati Business Club (MBC), composed of more than 400 of the top Philippine corporations, for the last 17 years. MBC was organized in 1981 as a forum for constructive ideas. It played a major role in mobilizing the business sector and public opinion against the excesses of President Marcos and Estrada which ultimately led to their downfall.

He is a special consultant to Tax Management, Inc. of Washington, D.C. which publishes the "Foreign Income Portfolios". Mr. Romulo contributes articles to such publications as Center for International Legal Studies of Austria, World Antitrust Law and the International Charitable Giving: Laws and Taxation, and to various World Bank sponsored studies on aspects of Philippine laws.

Mr. Romulo was a member of several Government Commissions: the 1986 Constitutional Commission which drafted the present Constitution of the Philippines, and the Fact-Finding Commission which investigated the attempted coup d' etat in 1989. President Corazon C. Aquino appointed him a member of the Council of State representing the business sector. He served in Committees created by the Supreme Court dealing with Legal Education, Revision of the Judicial Code, Revision of the Cannons of Judicial Ethics, Small Claims and Judicial Management. The Supreme Court appointed him Bar Examiner in taxation (1974) and in commercial law (1992). He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Courts Centenary Celebrations.
He was awarded by De La Salle University the Degree of Doctor of Education, honoris causa, in 1990, and on August 16, 1997 His Holiness Pope John Paul, II conferred on him the Order of St. Gregory the Great (rank of Knight).

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo created a Governance Advisory Council and appointed Mr. Romulo as one of its five members.

Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark appointed Mr. Romulo Consul General, a.h., on 27 June 2002.

Visited Japan as guest of the Japanese Foreign Ministry under its “Opinion Leader Invitation Program” (December 2004).
