Atty. Tan’s practice deals with a broad range of regulatory and transactional corporate and banking matters, debt capital market transactions, including regulatory capital financing, banking and investment product development, mergers and acquisitions, equity capital market and other securities transactions, and general corporate work.

Practice
As a partner of the firm and member of the Corporate Banking Group, Mr. Tan regularly advises the leading foreign bank commercial branches in the Philippines and their onshore and offshore corporate vehicles, as well as various offshore banking units and financial institutions, and has represented these various clients in dealings and transactions with the Republic through Department of Finance, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Insurance Commission. Mr. Tan was involved in the capital market development project on the dematerialization of trading of equity securities, the establishment of the clearing corporation and guarantee fund for the trading of equity securities, and the organization of the fixed income exchange and the depository and trust company. Mr. Tan is also involved in transactions of international and domestic underwriters, arrangers, government-owned and controlled corporations and banking institutions in connection with public and private financing requirements including subordinated debt issuances.

Mr. Tan joined the firm in October of 1994 and became partner in 2004. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1993, after having received a Juris Doctor degree, Silver Medal for Academics, in 1992 from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law, and a Legal Management degree in 1988 from the Ateneo de Manila University.
